Republican candidate for governor Thomas Wright is getting a seasoned political veteran to be his running mate.

Wright announced yesterday that retiring First District Congressman Rob Bishop is his pick for lieutenant governor.

Bishop announced Monday that he would not be running for governor, but said he accepted the offer to be Wright's running mate because he felt it would be less time-consuming.

Wright is the first Republican candidate to announce his choice for lieutenant governor.
