UPDATED: 4/21/2021

Toquerville - According to the City of Hurricane Police Department on April 4, 2021 at approximately 3:27 am an officer attempted to stop a vehicle without a license place.  The driver of the vehicle accelerated northbound on SR-9 into LaVerkin at approximately 90 MPH and continued at a high rate of speed into Toquerville.  The driver took several side roads in Toquerville neighborhoods before coming back onto the highway.

At around 3:32 the driver rolled the vehicle; the male driver was ejected from the vehicle.  Officers detained a female passenger who was still inside the vehicle when they approached.  Officers performed CPR on the driver until medical personnel arrived.  The driver of the vehicle died at the scene and the female was transported to the hospital. The vehicle was later found to be stole from West Valley City.

The Utah Highway Patrol responded to the scene is conducting the investigation of the crash.  Other responding agencies were Washington County Sherriff and Hurricane Valley Fire.

Toquerville - A high-speed chase was reported this morning at around 4 am that went through La Verkin and Toquerville and ended in the death of a passenger in the car after the vehicle rolled over.  The chase began at the hurricane/La Verkin bridge, went into Toquerville, through the neighborhoods there and then headed back to La Verkin however the car rolled and came to a stop at shadow creek lane and Toquerville Blvd.  The car is believed to be stolen out of West Valley City.
