A Magna woman will spend up to five years in state prison following her sentencing in a baby shaking case.

Defense attorney David Brown said Kelsey Briceno was too emotional to speak in court yesterday.

Briceno will spend from zero to five years in prison for her role in injuring the infant last year.

Briceno initially told police that the baby fell down a flight of stairs, but eventually told police that she shook the then one-year-old child.

Doctors say the damage to the baby's brain is permanent and he may never speak or walk on his own.
