The Utah Legislature is considering a concurrent resolution that calls for better federal forest management. House Concurrent Resolution 5 was passed out of committee on Friday with an 11-2 vote, but not until after amendments were made to strip language concerning climate change from the resolution.

The resolution, sponsored by Rep. Ray Ward, R- Bountiful, comes after a particularly bad year for wildfires in Utah, with over 480,000 acres burned and firefighting costs estimated to be over $150 million.
