Warriors stun Dixie; Pine View solidifies grip on 1st, Thunder fall again
ST. GEORGE – Snow Canyon is probably not going to make the state playoffs, but the Warriors are making things miserable for teams that are.
Wednesday, Snow Canyon nearly surprised first-place Pine View, then Friday night the Warriors stunned Dixie to put a serious crimp in the Flyers plans to repeat as Region 9 champs.
Cole Warner had 26 points and Joey Robertson added 13 as the Warriors downed Dixie 61-49. SC led by as many as 18 points.
Pine View won again, beating Cedar 58-39. Jared Sudweeks and Michael Moore had 13 points each as the Panthers improved to 8-0 in region and now lead second-place Dixie by two games. Those two teams meet Wednesday in a game broadcast on ESPN Radio 97.7 FM.
Friday's third game pitted two teams desperate for a win after falling on hard times as of late. Canyon View was able to complete a season sweep of Desert Hills with a 45-42 victory at DHHS. Parker Holmes led the way with 15 points.
Cody Spencer had the go-ahead bucket with under a minute to play.
It is the fifth straight loss for the Thunder, who fall to 3-6 in region play.
