Utah State Prison to release some inmates

Utah State Prison will release at least 80 inmates early due to the coronavirus pandemic. 

The Department of Corrections said today it has asked the parole board to release those who are within 90 days of their scheduled release date and who have an approved address. 

DOC officials say they could release other convicts at a future date. 

This all comes as county jails have released inmates for the same reasons.
