Utah's only anaerobic food waste digester is now open to the public.

Wasatch Resource Recovery, which converts food waste into renewable energy, will starting taking in 700-tons of food waste daily.

The plant uses microbes to break down food without oxygen.

Manager Morgan Bowerman says while other facilities convert fruit and vegetable scraps, Wasatch Resource Recovery also accepts meats and dairy, as well as sugary and packaged foods.
