The Utah Highway Patrol is warning drivers of the potential for crashes and injuries due to heavy ice falling from semi-trucks and other vehicles.

The UHP said that was the case Monday on State Route 36 near Stockton, where a sheet of ice came off the top of a semi and landed on a vehicle going the other way.

The driver was not badly injured but his vehicle suffered heavy damage.

The highway patrol is asking the drivers of commercial vehicles to take the time to clean off the top of their rigs during winter weather, while telling other drivers to give those rigs plenty of distance to avoid crashes.
