Tighter rules on personalized license plates
The Utah Senate has approved tighter rules on what phrases can be requested for a personalized license plate.
Senate Bill 97 from Democratic State Senator Luz Escamilla expands restrictions, denying submissions that discriminate groups based on their race, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, citizenship status or disability.
Currently, plate requests can be denied if they carry meanings that are considered offensive or indecent.
