Federal prosecutors have reached a settlement agreement with a Bountiful man who started a wildfire on U.S. National Forest land back in 2017.

Under the civil claim, Jayson Orvis will pay 396-thousand dollars.

Orvis was found liable for the damage after he hired someone to do construction work on his property with a power grinder.

That tool emitted sparks, which then led to a fire that spread to the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.
