Utah Senator Mitt Romney is breaking ranks with his Republican colleagues by opposing a judge nominated by President Trump.

Romney voted no yesterday on the confirmation of Michael Truncale to a judgeship on the U.S. District Court in Texas.

Romney said his opposition was based on Truncale's 2011 comments calling then-President Barrack Obama an "un-American impostor."

Romney said he felt the remarks were disparaging and that he couldn't support Truncale's nomination.

Romney was the only Republican senator who voted against Truncale, who was confirmed by a 49-46 vote.
