Salt Lake County To File Suit Against Opioid Manufacturers

Salt Lake County officials plan to sue drug manufacturers in a bid to win damages for the cost of dealing with the ongoing opioid crisis.  Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams and District Attorney Sim Gill were among the public officials who announced the planned lawsuit yesterday in Salt Lake City.  State and local officials hope the suit will also force the drug companies to stop practices that encourage and promote the use of opioids by doctors and hospitals.  A private law firm will handle the case for the county.
