The Riggs fire continues burning near Bryce Canyon National Park and the Dixie National Forest and has increased in fire growth. An adjacent fire, the Lonely Fire is also burning. According to a press release, the Riggs fire is currently at 450 acres and the Lonely Fire is 523 acres. Both fires are being managed to help reduce an unnatural buildup of forest fuels. By allowing them to burn it will reduce these fuels and return the area to a more natural condition and reduce the fire risk in the future.  Both fires were lightening caused.
