Prosecutors: Doomsday Cult Member Planned to Kill ‘Possessed’ Son

(Iron County, UT)  --  One of the men accused of kidnapping his children to join a doomsday cult may have also plotted to kill his son.  According to newly-released court records in Iron County, John Coltharp told authorities he believed his son was possessed by an "evil spirit" and planned to murder him.  Prosecutors say Coltharp and Samuel Shaffer were also anticipating a Muslim invasion of the United States.  Both men faces several charges including kidnapping and child sex abuse.
