WASHINGTON CITY, Utah (News4Utah)- A 23-year-old man is facing charges of attempted murder after police say he shot a man in a Walmart parking lot.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Washington City Walmart located at 625 West Telegraph Street.

Police say when they arrived they found a 30-year-old man who had been shot in the leg. The suspect, identified as Henry Pitman, was nowhere to be seen.

Soon after, however, police in Mesquite located and arrested Pitman. He has been booked for attempted murder.

Officials say Pitman and the victim know each other, but the circumstances behind the shooting are still under investigation.

The victim was treated at a local hospital for his injuries. Police say he is expected to survive.
