Medical Examiner confirms body of man in freezer has been there for at least a decade

A man whose body was found inside his wife's freezer in Tooele last month died nearly a decade ago.  According to the Medical Examiner's Office, 69-year-old Paul Mathers has been dead for nearly 11 years.  However, the cause of his death remains unknown.

Out of state off-road vehicles will need Utah registration

The state is going to require any off-road vehicle coming from another state to be registered in Utah before allowing it to be used.  The Department of Natural Resources said in a Facebook post yesterday that ATVs, side by sides, snowmobiles and other vehicles designed to be used off the highway will have to purchase a non-resident off-highway vehicle permit.

Two police dogs help in St. George drug bust

Two police dogs, Washington County Sheriff’s canine Vinny, along with St George City Police Department canine Emma are being credited for sniffing out a large amount of drugs aboard a Greyhound bus in St. George.  The K9s were deployed Monday after police got a tip from a Greyhound employee.

Utah tax reform update

Utahns will pay less in income taxes in the new year but will also face new taxes on groceries and some services.  State Senator Todd Weiler was one of the 20 Senate members who voted in favor of a statewide tax overhaul package yesterday.

Cedar City man arrested for assaulting two police officers

A man from Cedar City is accused of assaulting two police officers during a domestic violence call.  It happened early yesterday morning at a home on 535 South.  Police say Antwaun Rainey was drunk and acting aggressively when officers arrived.

Utah Military Academy put on notice

The state Charter School Board is putting the Utah Military Academy on notice.  The board put the academy on warning status yesterday after notices of concern were issued by the state over the last two months.  Concerns include allegations of grade changing, financial issues and failure to properly document special education requirements.
