Six year old killed after falling off snow clearing machine

The Utah County Sheriff's office is identifying a six-year-old boy who died after being thrown into the path of a machine clearing snow at a family camp.  Herman Slaughter died Friday while riding with his father and brother on a skid steer.

Three people killed in crash on SR 89 near Kanab

Three people are dead after an overnight crash in Kane County.  It happened on Highway 89 east of Kanab.  The Utah Highway Patrol says a van veered into oncoming traffic and slammed into an SUV.  Three people in the SUV died from their injuries.

Cedar hospital receives award for supporting breastfeeding mothers

A hospital in Cedar City is one of only two in the state that's considered truly friendly to breastfeeding mothers.  The state health department gave Intermountain Cedar City Hospital a five-star rating, along with the 'Stepping Up for Utah Babies' award.  Health officials looked at several factors, including the hospital's ability to promote, protect, educate, and encourage breastfeeding.

Avalanche danger high in Utah mountains

The Utah Avalanche center has issued a warning through 6am Monday for the central and southern Wasatch range, including the western Uintas. After a week of storms, the avalanche danger is high.

Injury accident near Mona

Southbound I-15 has reopened after a serious injury crash near the Mona exit. The crash happened at around 7:30 p.m. Sunday. According to Utah Highway Patrol, a vehicle was traveling north on I-15 when it lost control, crossed the median, and hit a southbound vehicle. The crash was so violent that police say the one vehicle split in two.

Threat posted on social media for Tooele High School

Officials with the Tooele County School District say additional security will be on hand at Tooele High School after a threat was posted on social media.  The threat reportedly started on Snapchat and was then circulated by other students.

Safety tips when hanging Christmas lights

Doctors at Intermountain Healthcare are urging those who plan to hang lights from their homes to take precautions to keep from getting injured.  Dr. Shane Lewis says he's seen some severe injuries as a result of falls involving Christmas lights and decorations.
