On 07-27-2020 at approximately 15:30 hours, a Cedar city woman was running the Thunderbird Garden trail when she was attacked by a man.

The 18-year-old female told Sheriff detectives she parked her vehicle at the Thunderbird Garden trailhead parking lot just east of the golf course and begun running eastbound on the Ghost Flats trail.

On her way back to the parking lot a man hiding next to the trail jumped out and hit her in the head with a rock; knocking the woman to the ground.

The women got back on her feet and escaped with only minor injuries. The attacker has been described as a male in his early forties, tall and skinny, shoulder length brown hair, wearing tan cargo shorts and a blue/white medical grade facemask.

Iron County Sheriff detectives are asking for help from anyone who frequently uses this trail, possibly lives nearby, or has seen a person in that area matching the above description to contact the Iron County Sheriff Office at 435-867-7500.
