Home teams rule as CV stings PV, Dixie downs Hurricane and SC eliminates D-Hills
ST. GEORGE – There's no place like home as all three home teams won Friday night in Region 9 boys basketball.
In Cedar City, Canyon View handed Pine View its first region loss in a thriller 46-44. Parker Holmes made two free throws with under 30 seconds left and a leaner in the lane by Jared Koller rimmed out as the Falcons improved to 6-5 and clinched a playoff spot.
Trevor Farrow had 13 for Canyon View, while Pine View got 14 from Michael Moore.
The Panthers still clinched the No. 1 seed, however, as Dixie beat Hurricane 64-52. Jordan Mathews led the Flyers with 17 points as Dixie is 7-3 in region and the Tigers drop to 6-4.
Pine View, at 9-1, has swept Dixie and holds the tiebreaker, thus giving them the No. 1 seed.
And Snow Canyon officially eliminated Desert Hills from playoff contention with a 61-49 win at the Jungle. Cole Warner led the 3-8 Warriors with 17 points. The Thunder drop to 3-7 and have lost six straight.
