Earthquake Hits Millard County

A 4.0 magnitude earthquake shook a remote area of MIllard County last night just before 10 p. m.  Two more smaller earthquakes followed with a magnitude of 2.7 and 1.7 within 30 minutes.

The University of Utah Seismograph Station reported the epicenter of the 4.0 quake to be about 60 miles southwest of Fillmore, Utah near the town of Black Rock and at a depth of 2.4 miles below the surface.

The following two quakes were in the same region.  No injuries or property damage reported in any of the three quakes.

Seismologists from The U.S. Geological Survey consider quakes up to 3.9 to be minor.
