Doctors at Intermountain Healthcare are urging those who plan to hang lights from their homes to take precautions to keep from getting injured.

Dr. Shane Lewis says he's seen some severe injuries as a result of falls involving Christmas lights and decorations.

Doctors say they've even seen people electrocuted by faulty lights and extension cords.

Intermountain Healthcare recommends using proper equipment, checking lights for problems before doing any climbing, working with a partner and taking plenty of time to help avoid serious injuries during the holidays.

Jared Rohatinsky, who was severely injured in a fall while decorating a home a few years ago, says he now does things very differently.
