Delta Airlines says one of its planes was able to safely return to Salt Lake City International Airport after encountering birds shortly after takeoff.  The airline says Flight 248 to Paris, France was forced to return to the airport Saturday evening about 15 minutes after taking off.  Delta did not give details about any damage caused by the birds, saying only that the plane turned around in order to guarantee the safety of the passengers and crew.  The 223 passengers aboard the plane were able to get off the plane after it returned to the gate and no injuries were reported.
