Following the release of two volunteers representing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Congressman Stewart released the following statement:

"Prayers have been answered with the return of these two Elders serving in Russia.

I am grateful for their release and may God continue to bless them and their families."

On March 1st, 2019, two volunteers for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints were arrested in southern Russia for allegedly teaching English classes without a license.

After a three-week detention, David Gaaga and Kole Brodowski were released and are returning to America.
