The president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is inviting the world to take part in a day of fasting and prayer this weekend.

President Russell M. Nelson started his video message yesterday with a word of thanks to those trying to control the COVID-19 pandemic.

But Nelson also emphasized the role that faith plays in helping deal with the emotional toll of emergencies like the pandemic.

He encouraged people around the world to join him Sunday to fast and pray for relief from the coronavirus.
