If you’ve been in Utah long, you’ve probably heard the term, “Utah Beer”.

That may be about to change, but how does the LDS church feel about that proposed change.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does not support a bill that would virtually eliminate three-point-two beer in Utah.

Republican State Senator Jerry Stevenson is sponsoring the bill and he isn't surprised by the Church's position.

The Church released a statement yesterday saying they could not support Senate Bill 132 in its current form.

The bill would allow Utah grocery and convenience stores to sell beer with up to four-point-eight-percent alcohol by weight.

Lawmakers say the bill is designed to expand consumer selection, since many major breweries have stopped making three-point-two beer due to a lack of demand.

Kate Bradshaw of the Responsible Beer Choice Coalition says the bill is a small change that will bring a big benefit to consumers.
