American Lung Association Believes a Key Piece of Legislation is Being Left Out
While Utah lawmakers consider hundreds of bills this year, one health organization believes a key piece of legislation is being left out.
The American Lung Association wants the Legislature to increase the minimum age to purchase tobacco products from 19 to 21.
In a report released, the group says Utah's smoking rate is nearly nine-percent, and gives the Beehive State F-grades for providing funding for tobacco prevention programs and for the level of the state's tobacco taxes.
Utah did get an A for its smoke-free workplace laws.
