An accountant faces felony charges after being accused of embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from a St. George business.

In September of 2018 the employer of Richard William McDonald called police to tell them he had stolen 400-thousand dollars.

The theft came out when the employer realized that several of the company's credit accounts were past due.

Over four years McDonald had paid himself a larger salary than he was supposed to get, and made transfers from business accounts to his personal account while doctoring the company's books.

McDonald fled Utah and was found in South Carolina.
