A 20 year old male from St.Petersburg Russia has drowned at Lake Powell. According to a Press Release, approximately 29 young adult foreign nationals rented three pontoon boats from the Wahweap Marina. A large number of the individuals jumped into Wahweap Bay to swim without wearing life jackets. Winds picked up and swimmers began having difficulty. Boat operators were able to pick many of the swimmers out of the water . The deceased did not make it and was recovered in approximately nine feet of water. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two others sustained propeller cuts in the process of the rescue. They were transported to the hospital.
