Beer with a lower alcohol content may soon become a thing of the past in Utah.

During a hearing yesterday, Senate Minority Leader Karen Mayne summed up the reason her colleagues were considering a bill to change the legal alcohol content in beer sold in Utah from three-point-two to four-point-eight percent.

The Senate's Business and Labor Committee unanimously passed the bill, sending it to the Senate floor for a vote.

The change is being proposed after several states stopped selling three-point-two beer, prompting brewers like Anheuser-Busch to say they weren't going to make special batches just for Utah.
